Nice villas, big cockroaches and not informed receptionists
Charm villas design is nice and stylish, equipment and amenities in rooms are good and include all you need for comfortable stay, quality and choice in buffet breakfast and dinner, room cleaning personnel doing well their job, cleaning well, not disturbing. The area where the villas are placed, on the hill, is nice and in the middle of nature. As our villa was on the top of hill, I have appreciated very quick buggy service taking us down to restaurant/pool area or back to the villa. The area is really big and some of the villas are quite far.
As you are in the middle of the nature, you would expect some insects, however, this hotel is really full of big bugs and cockroaches and with the bathroom fully open, it was bit scary to be there especially during the evenings/ nights. Although the hotel is trying to do something with it, we saw it once during our 4 nights stay, the cockroaches are still more or less there. So be aware of this. The other thing we were not happy with was the information we received from the receptionists and the fact they were not informed well and they simply lied to us. Each person always gave us different/ incorrect information. One of of the examples I can mention is regarding boat trips options, it's prices (different form each person - the difference was 100 EUR/ trip) and payment options. We agreed on possibility to pay the boat trip by card with the receptionist and next day the tour guide asked for money in cash after the trip, we really felt uncomfortable because we did not take any money on boat and when we came back to reception asking why they did not manage it, they simply lied to us, saying that they have not said the payment is possible by card. I should record it.... Third thing which is not as great is the fact that there is actually not beach where you could swim, all guests were using the pool only. One beach were you can swim, if you are lucky, is a few hundred meters from the hotel but during our say the currents were so strong, that we could not get in, but this is general problem with lot of beaches on La Digue, there is either not enough water to swim or there are strong currents, at least this is what we experienced.
